Filter Selection

It’d be great if I can filter models by “Fully assessed by Expert”, “Partially Assessed by Expert” etc. This way, the user would be able to source higher confidence models first.

Vector database (pinecone) v2

Our pinecone database needs to reconsideration as it’s often not performing quite as optimally as we would hope.

Logging in

Anecdotally, some folks I interacted with over the past ~6 months had trouble logging in after clicking on “Get Started”. They miss the line “Already have an account? Log in” or forget they were using Gmail to access their account. I suggest an explicit button that says “Log In” in addition to “Get Started.”

Search Filters

Add more search filters For example: it’d be useful to search by version or only for solutions that were expert evaluated

Precise Koi Engine Route information

It would be awesome to have some kind of precise / known tag for the engine route (path) that was followed ot produce a given scenario. Right now there are only so many, so it’s not terribly difficult to discern by looking at the model and the techlib file BUT, because pathways do different things in order to handle data availability issues and/or might also include use of special submodules (CDR or “Soft / Facilitator”) I think it would be valuable to know what route it took to get there so that if it looks funky / buggy, we have a more targeted method by following such markers.

Adapt search bar to accommodate multiple models with same name

This is not a bug but more of a personal observation/suggestion. When searching using the “rooftop” keyword, multiple models appear with the same name. After selecting “preview,” I recognize they are slightly different (in terms of market capture, description, etc.), and I get that they’re probably generated based on different company IPs. From a UX perspective, it would save time and effort for a user to be able to distinguish between these models more easily. For instance, if there was an extra column listing those key differences, or if models would somehow be pooled into one master “Rooftop PV Systems” category (this one is especially helpful when a user is searching for something not solar PV related, yet getting so many irrelevant results).

"Feedback" site is hard to find

Maybe it’s just me, but it was difficult to find “product.koi.eco” link on “koi.eco” site. I don’t think there’s a button? I Googled it instead. Unless you’re not actively collecting feedback from users, a more prominent link may be useful.

Declining uncertainty in forecast

There is a calculation artifact that we should figure out how to address in the uncertainty bands (upper and lower bounds) but this shouldn’t ever decline over time (example analysis)

Provide full value on value chain node hover

Right now value chain nodes often contain data that are rounded to “0” depending on selected units. Feature request: show full value (if non-zero) when hovering over a node so you can see the actual value but it doesn’t make the UI all goofy with something like 0.0000002.

warning or message when zeros are due to rounding

quick idea I wanted to throw out there -- a stopgap option for avoiding false zeros (in the sense that people see a zero and think it is genuine 0 rather than a small number). Idea is maybe we just throw a small warning / tag when all of the values are showing 0, like "note: all values are showing up as zero, possibly due to rounding. try adjusting the UOMs for the numerator and denominator"):

Uncertainty values only available when "Show Charts" enabled

When the “Show Charts” toggle is enabled, I get to see the uncertainty bounds (love it!). If wish I could see these values when “Show Charts” is disabled too.

Clarify use of "Geography" and available options

It was unclear to me how changing the “Geography” (see below) would affect my model. Also, I’m not sure what is the difference between “United States” and “United States (US)” as well as what is the meaning of all the eGRID options.

Tabs are hidden behind buttons on narrow screens

Nitpick: my (admittedly small) laptop screen has the tabs overflowing behind the buttons (see below). Perhaps a hamburger menu or a scroll bar should be added.

Blinking cursors in read-only fields

Nitpick: the blinking cursors in read-only fields are confusing. At first, I thought I should be able to edit those fields. See example below.

Display uncertainties as "±" when possible

Nice to have: Instead of writing “-20%, +20%” just write ±20% for clarity.

Milestone: Contributors can refine AI-generated model to validated model

Make it easier for science team/users to do editing in the application and refine models from AI-gen models.

Better handling of generic units

Sometimes we are using “generic units” (for example, a recent model I did the functional unit was TWh-eq computing, so I had the uom be “unit” and the widget be “TWh-eq computing”). It shows up fine in the charts, but see screenshot for the way this is displayed in the dropdown menu; we probably want it to be using the widget somehow when the uom is literally “unit”.

Clickable hyperlinks in References

It would be great to allow hyperlinks to be clickable in the References, including for customized models

Koi logo link on product.koi.eco

Not sure if this is intended behavior, but I expected the Koi logo to bring me to either the main Koi landing page (koi.eco) or the app (https://app.koi.eco/)
